SICSA HCI Research Theme: SICSA Pre-CHI Day 2022

Date/Time
Date(s) - 27/04/2022
9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Once again, the SICSA HCI theme is organising a Pre-CHI day to celebrate CHI contributions from SICSA authors. Here are the details of this year’s event.

This year’s event will be hybrid: it will take place online, but there will be local satellite events (with catering) in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Dundee. Please indicate on the registration form whether you plan to attend one of the in-person events. You can register through EventBrite here.

09:15 – 10:15: CHI video watch party part 1

We will curate a video containing as many of the CHI papers that feature SICSA affiliated authors as possible. The video will premiere live on YouTube for members of the community to watch together and discuss.

10:15 – 10:35: Break

Chat about the papers online, or with colleagues at one of our in-person satellite events

10:35 – 11:45: CHI video watch party part 2

Watch more SICSA-affiliated CHI videos

11:45-12:00: Break

Chat about the papers online, or with colleagues at one of our in-person satellite events

12:00-13:00 – CHI Discussion

We fully recognise that the past two years have been incredibly difficult for authors to carry out work in the HCI area. Following the live video showcase, we host a guided discussion with the SICSA community that will focus on topics including the following:

  • Recruiting participants in a COVID-safe way
  • Study adjustment for COVID
  • Lessons learnt going forwards (i.e., what COVID-era adjustments are likely to continue?)
  • Any other CHI-relevant topics arising from this year’s Scottish CHI papers

We look forward to seeing you, online or in-person, on the 27th!

Mary Ellen Foster and Mike Crabb, SICSA HCI Theme Co-Chairs.
