2nd SICSA Programming Challenge

Date/Time
Date(s) - 21/10/2020
1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

As a follow-on to the successful first SICSA Programming Challenge in mid-June, which had a
participation of over 100 students from at least 5 different Scottish universities, we will be running
a second SICSA-wide challenge on the 21st October 2020.

NOTE: there will be Amazon voucher PRIZES of 100 GBP for the winner and 50 GBP for the 2nd and 3rd place

Renewed (quasi-) lock-down is still difficult for all of us, and we have been looking for activities that might be of interest for you, as helping with IT-skills, especially coding, but also being fun to do at home. As a result, we are planning to run the second SICSA Programming Challenge “dynamic Denning” on Wed 21.10 from 1-6pm online using the OpenKattis framework.

This programming challenge will be an opportunity for you to test and exercise your programming skills, which will be useful in preparing for the next academic year. It will consist of a sequence of programming tasks that are posted through OpenKattis. Each successfully solved problem will gain you points, and the overall highest scoring student will be the winner of the challenge. Participation is open for all under-graduate and taught post-graduate students from Scottish universities

You can sign-up on OpenKattis for the contest before it opens on Wednesday 1pm. You can pick just any of the problems there and do a submission (outside a contest) so that you know the
setup of the programming challenge.

A screencast about basic OpenKattis usage (on MS Stream) can be found here. This screencast is also openly available as embedded video on this info page about the SICSA Programming Challenges:
