The United Kingdom and Ireland Computing Education Research (UKICER) conference is sponsored by the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) UK Special Interest Group in Computing Science Education (SIGCSE) chapter. UKICER is a national event for computing educators to share and exchange advances in computing education research.

Following on from the success of UKICER 2020, the University of Glasgow was given the opportunity to deliver UKICER 2021 again! Professor Quintin Cutts and Joseph Maguire were General and Programme Chairs for the conference. The SICSA sponsored event showcased nine research papers, five workshops, four posters and the inaugural research in practice project activity (RIPPA) with academics working together to research spatial skills in computing education.

More than 60 delegates joined remotely from around United Kingdom and Ireland but also the wider world. The success of UKICER 2021 has resulted in the conference continuing again next year, with UKICR 2022 coming from Dublin Ireland
