"Sustaining and expanding Scotland's research excellence in Informatics and Computer Science"
The Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (SICSA) is a collaboration ofScottish Universitieswhose goal is to develop and extend Scotland's position as a world leader in Informatics and Computer Science research and education.
We achieve this by working cooperatively rather than competitively, by providing mutual support and sharing facilities, by working closely with industry and government and by appointing and retaining world-class staff and research students in Scottish Universities.
Research excellence is critical in a modern economy as a driver for enterprise and innovation. SICSA works closely with companies of all sizes to transfer advanced research to industry and informs researchers of current industrial problems.
We are interested in all aspects of informatics and computer science but focus on fourresearch themesthat are particularly timely and important:
Next Generation Internet
Multi-modal Interaction
Modelling and Abstraction
Complex Systems Engineering
So far, we have appointed more than 30 new staff and have offered more than 70 prize studentships to PhD students from around the world. We run a visiting fellowship programme and support summer schools for PhD student education. TheSICSA Graduate Academymanages the awards of prize studentships, fellowships and summer schools.
