Workshop on Smart Sensing Technologies and Environments for Health

Funded by the SICSA Themes: Medical Imaging and Sensing in Computing & Technology for Health & Wellbeing

Health and social care are currently undergoing a revolution. Healthcare systems are emerging from a pure clinical environment into the real-world largely due to a more connected world and advances in microelectronics.

This introduces research challenges around the use of sensing and associated technologies and various user scenarios around current and emerging technologies and environments for health.

We would like to invite researchers who are interested in the area of sensing technologies for health to our SICSA-funded workshop in this area. We believe this area requires innovative research ideas and solutions from a large multidisciplinary group of researchers in order to determine how we can best lead the way in Scotland in contributing to the grand research challenges.

The workshop will have two themes:

1. Smart sensing technologies for health
2. Environments for health

The workshop will consist of short talks which will present current research projects in the area, an interactive panel discussion and, in addition, posters* will feature early work in progress research work.

This workshop is organised by Professor Lynne Baillie, Dr Marilyn Lennon (Strathclyde University), Dr Sinan Sinanovic & Dr Philip Smit
