Stephen Brewster and Per Ola Kristensson are organising a one day workshop on mobile interaction. The aim is to get everyone together across Scotland working on mobile interaction, from gestures or speech input to applications such as accessibility or navigation. There is a lot of great work going on and we want to create some new collaborations to build on these strengths. The workshop will take place on level 5 of Computing Science at Glasgow University on the 20th January. We will start at 9:30 for coffee with the workshop proper beginning at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00. Michael Rohs from LMU in Munich (www.medien.ifi.lmu.de/team/michael.rohs) will be our keynote speaker. He is an expert on novel interaction techniques for mobile devices, applications of computer vision techniques in mobile HCI, the usage of sensors for mobile interactions, and the integration of physical and virtual resources in the user's environment. Given the success of the madness session at the all hands meeting in Edinburgh before Christmas, we are planning to repeat it, so be prepared to do a 1 minute presentation on your work. We will then focus on getting collaborations going. Come and tell us all about the work you are doing on mobile interaction!
