Cyber Security Christmas Lectures for Schools

In 2012 the first Christmas lectures were a huge success with over 600 High school pupils in the 13-18 age range attending. We received many compliments from High School teachers about the event and it was a fantastic showcase for raising the profile of Cyber Security to both genders of the nation’s future workforce.

The purpose behind the event was:

  • to use light hearted and fun methods to introduce a career in Cyber Security to school pupils before they make their final University choices.

  • to address the skills and gender gap

  • to raise cyber security profile through publicity generated by the lectures

The 2013 event is intended to build on the success of the 2012 event by taking it on the road across Scotland with the aim of presenting to around 4000 High School Pupils. Universities in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen have all agreed to participate.

Our lecture series spans multiple sessions in multiple centres across Scotland and so each session may have different speakers. It may be necessary to change the schedule at short notice so the names associated with each session should be treated as a guide only.
