Applying for a SICSA visiting fellowship
We offer support to eminent researchers who would like to come and work in Scotland for periods from 1 week to 1 year. Visitors are expected to interact with SICSA members, to offer at least one seminar that is open to all SICSA members, and ideally to visit more than one SICSA site during their stay.
Prospective visitors should be based at one (or more) of the SICSA institutions, and will be expected to provide specific benefits for Scottish research community. These benefits might include some or all of the following: taking part in or helping to direct research via generation of new ideas, sharing of expertise by giving short lecture courses, guest lectures, colloquia, or participation in a summer school. Visits to SICSA institutions other than the host institution(s) are strongly encouraged.
Proposer(s) should be researchers associated with SICSA. You should submit a case for support which explains the purpose of the visit and the benefits for the Scottish research community. Applications will be reviewed by the SGA Board and should be submitted the Graduate Academy administrator (admin AT sicsa.ac.uk)
We plan to award a number of both short (up to one month) and long distinguished visiting fellowships (up to 3 months) per annum.
Applications may be submitted at any time but will normally be considered in the months after the following closing dates:
- January 31st
- May 31st
- October 31st
If you are interested in visiting Scotland under this scheme, please contact your preferred university in the first instance. The proposal must be submitted by a staff member at a SICSA member.
If you are a researcher associated with SICSA, and are interested in hosting a visitor under this scheme, please contact the Administrator of the Graduate Academy (admin@sicsa.ac.uk).
