Applying for funding to attend a Summer School

If you are a PhD student working in Scotland and you would like to attend a summer school relevant to one of the SICSA research themes, SICSA may be able to provide you with funding towards this. Please note that SICSA will consider providing funding for any relevant Summer School regardless of whether or not it is a SICSA sponsored event.  Students are welcome to apply for funding to attend international events.

How do I apply for SICSA funding to attend a Summer School?
If you are interested in attending a Summer School you should firstly ascertain the cost of the registration fee and secure approval from your supervisor. Once your supervisor has indicated their support for you to attend the Summer School you should contact the Executive Team at SICSA by emailing
admin@sicsa.ac.uk, outlining the details of the Summer School and the total funding required.  The request will be considered by the SICSA Graduate Academy Board and you will be notified by email as soon as a decision has been made.

What will SICSA contribute?
The maximum amount SICSA is ordinarily able to contribute towards attendance at Summer Schools is £500 per Summer School.
SICSA will normally pay the summer school registration fee and accommodation charges (where accommodation is not included in registration) up to the total value of £500 (or the agreed limit).  Any travel expenses should be covered by your department.
Please note that SICSA is unable to provide advance payments for Summer Schools.  Payment will be made as a reimbursement on the production of full receipts.  Please email any financial claims to
admin@sicsa.ac.uk.
