The following standard rates should be used when costing your proposal in your application.
Travel costs:
- Visitors from the UK: £160 for a return journey
- Visitors from Europe: £300 for a return journey
- Visitors from North America: £600 for a return journey
- Visitors from Asia, Australasia, South America, etc.: £1000 for a return journey
Travel between SICSA institutes: up to £100 (travel should be by means of the cheapest form of transport available, i.e. if public transport links are good, taxi fares will not be eligible)
Accommodation and subsistence: SICSA will contribute up to £700 a week towards accommodation/subsistence costs for the first 2 weeks of a visit and £500 a week for subsequent weeks.
NB: Please note that visits for a single week will only be supported if there is a tangible cash contribution of at least 30% of the cost from the host institution.
Matching contribution SICSA are required by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) to provide “matched funding” from each of the SICSA universities for all SICSA activities. This means that over the lifetime of SICSA, the total contribution from each university to SICSA will, as a minimum, match the SFC contribution.
This means that SICSA will not normally cover salary costs (if any), office, computer or networking costs as these should be contributed by the host university and are considered to be part of the matched funding. Any other actual costs over and above the agreed SICSA limit may also be considered as a contribution. SICSA do not usually require evidence of this matched funding for Distinguished Visiting Fellowships, however this information may be requested in the future.
