Distinguished Visiting Fellowships

For distinguished visitors who would like to come and work in Scotland.

We offer support to eminent researchers who would like to come and work in Scotland for periods from 1 week to 1 year. Visitors are expected to interact with SICSA members, to offer at least one seminar that is open to all SICSA members, and ideally to visit more than one SICSA site during their stay.

Prospective visitors should be eminent researchers or researchers whose achievements for their career stage is outstanding. They will be based at one (or more) of the SICSA institutions, and will be expected to provide specific benefits for Scottish research community. These benefits might include some or all of the following: taking part in or helping to direct research via generation of new ideas, sharing of expertise by giving short lecture courses, guest lectures, colloquia, or participation in a summer school. Visits to SICSA institutions other than the host institution(s) are strongly encouraged.

We plan to award a number of both short and long distinguished visiting fellowships per annum. SICSA can provide support for visits of up to 3 months. This can, of course, be combined with other support for longer visits.

Proposer(s) must be researchers associated with SICSA and at least one proposer must be a staff member at a SICSA institution.  You should submit a case for support which explains the purpose of the visit and the benefits for the Scottish research community. Applications will be reviewed by the SGA Board and should be submitted to the Administrator of the Graduate Academy (admin at sicsa.ac.uk)
