SICSA M&A: Scottish Mathematical Biology Network

Date/Time
Date(s) - 28/05/2014
10:00 am - 5:30 pm

Location
University of Stirling

The idea of the meeting is to bring together people working in the area of Mathematical Biology in Scotland. We are inviting representatives of all Scottish Mathematical Biology groups to present short overviews of activities in their groups. There will also be space for posters, and plenty of time for networking.

Dr Philippa Hemmings and Mike Ward from EPSRC will be attending and speaking about EPSRC funding. Philippa is a head of Mathematics National Capabilities Theme and LWEC Challenge Theme. Mike manages the applied mathematics portfolio and his responsibilities include mathematical biology. Philippa and Mike will present the EPSRC funding policies both in the area of Mathematics and in the Living for Environmental Change programme. There will also be an opportunity for us to showcase work currently being done in Scotland.

The meeting is co-sponsored by SICSA. We therefore particularly welcome computer scientists who are working on modelling biological systems.

The workshop is open to academic staff, research fellows and PDRAs as well as to PhD students. The number of places is limited, so please register as soon as possible.

There are 20 free places available to SICSA participants on a first come first served basis.

Ot with this there is a £10 fee contributing towards the costs of the conference. Thanks to the University of Stirling and SICSA we are covering most of the meeting costs, including lunch at the Management Centre. We are unable to cover costs of travel or of staying overnight. If you are unable to participate because of the charges, please let us know and we will try to help! Payment details will be e-mailed to all who register online.

The deadline for the registration is 31st March 2014.
