A formal approach for performance analysis of assembly code optimisation
techniques
Dr Leila Kloul, PRiSM Laboratory, University of Versailles, France
Currently compilers contain a large number of optimisations which are based on a set of heuristics that are not guaranteed to be effective to
improve the performance metrics. In this talk, we present a strategy
which allows us to analyse and select the best optimisation by focusing
on the hot part of an assembly code. In this approach, for each optimisation applied, the code of the hot part is extracted and its
dependency graph generated. In order to select the best optimisation to
apply, the generated graphs are analytically analysed using a stochastic
approach.
