Bill Joos, the start-up guru from Silicon Valley, will be back in Edinburgh for his annual visit starting on Monday 21 February 2011.
This time Bill will be conducting two days of interactive seminars focused on specifically preparing and delivering your all-critical 'Elevator Pitch' as well as your initial PowerPoint presentation to attract investors... and customers.
Your time with Bill will include a full day's worth of topics on Monday, February 21 2011, and will set the stage for the second workshop day later in the week.
Bill's topics will include:-
THE TOP TEN MISTAKES IN BUSINESS PLANS
Your business plan is the most important document you'll write as an entrepreneur. It can be the ticket to funding and interest from potential clients and partners.
Learn what NOT to do so you can develop a hard-hitting, compelling business case for your company.
PERFECTING YOUR 'SHORT BUILDING' ELEVATOR PITCH*
You can't assume your elevator pitch will be in a skyscraper! What if the mythical elevator ride is in a short building, and you only have 20 seconds?
In this session you will learn how to focus on what really matters to instantly grab the listeners attention when asked 'what does your company do ?'
PERFECTING YOUR PITCHING*
Learn how to craft the best possible pitch(presentation) in the shortest possible time.
This session will take you through the process of creating and delivering two versions of a company overview presentation:
One suitable for a one-hour discussion with investors and a version suitable for shorter pitches, such as at the EIE 2011 event.
This programme features a hard-copy, walk-away tool that helps define these for technology based start-up company.
THE POWER OF AN ADVISORY BOARD
This dynamic bonus session will focus on what Bill feels is the entrepreneur’s most under-utilized resource: a powerful Advisory Board. This can be the key to tapping into external expertise and impressing investors. When you ask for funding, you often get advice.
The opposite may also be true: ask for advice and get funding!
* The workshop sessions for either the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday will allow for you to further develop and practice your pitches, along with How to Hold an Investor Meeting.
